Hi Everyone! I'm Steve with Steve's POV.
I am always on the look out for cool new products.
I recently found one of those types of products and want to introduce you to it today.
This product is called EZ Lip.
It is made of rubber... the rubber has a nice feel and look to it and is dense but soft.
This rubber is intended to go under the front lip of the car, quickly and easily giving you a lower and sleeker look.
Speaking of front lips... I bought this thing for the Subaru quite a while ago.
But after looking at what was involved in installing it, I completely gave up on it.
I'm sure it would look great on the car, but it looked like a major project to do...
I didn't have the time or the confidence in putting this lip on...
the bumper comes off, holes need to be drilled, etc....
That is why EZ Lip for me is a quick, easy and good looking DIY solution.
This can scrape on stuff and it won't get messed up...
and in the event it did get messed up, its not that expensive or difficult to change again.
Today I'm gonna try this product for the first time on the Subaru STI front lip.
I have included a link to this product in my Amazon store in the Description box below.. you can buy directly there.
There are actually 2 types of EZ Lip.
There is a thinner version and this thicker one I'm using on the front.
The fatter one is more aggressive looking in my opinion.
You're gonna want to have a heat gun for this project.
The heat will help the rubber remain softer and the tape to adhere to the bumper better.
You will need scissors to trim the end of the EZ Lip when done.
These wipes came included with the EZ Lip.
You should wipe the surface with these before attaching the EZ Lip.
And I recommend using rubbing alcohol to clean any surface you are about to apply tape to.
Put the alcohol on a clean soft towel and wipe the surface free of any grease, wax or contaminants.
I think there is a saying that preparation is 90%... or something like that..
If you prepare correctly, the work will tend to proceed smoother.
The bottom is so scratched up already!!
I wonder if the EZ Lip will help prevent further scratches too??
Scratches down here are part of life for a lowered car!
Final preparation step will be to use these included wipes.
I'm guessing these are also alcohol type pads...
Oh yeah!! Wow!! These are alcohol or lacquer thinner or?!?!?
This will definitely help with adhesion.
At the end of the day, rubbing alcohol is best!!
We're gonna start in front of this tire and work our way around.
We will now use the heat gun to heat small portions of the EZ Lip as we proceed forward.
We will work in sections of 1-2 feet each.
Lets start by peeling a couple feet of the tape back...
then lining it up with he bumper and proceeding along.
Let's add heat as we go along!
This is not a difficult DIY project!
If I can do it so can you!
The other lip I previously bought is MUCH harder to do than this is.
This EZ Lip is a quick, cost effective and hopefully good looking solution!
Let's peel the tape back...
It's warm outside here today so I don't need a lot of heat, just a little...
Im gonna lay down and apply this looking from underneath the car.
Starting at the very edge and working forward slowly...
lining top the edge of the EZ Lip with the edge of the bumper.
Slowly and carefully...
proceed along carefully...
Let's keep moving along...
Peel some more tape and add a little heat.
This curved section looks like it may be a challenge.
This is the first time I am ever doing this DIY.
I am not happy with my poor results on this curved area...
I did not handle that curve as well as I should have...
I don't think it will be as noticeable when we let the car down...
but I need to be more careful!
What I've learned now is that its easier to do this head on than from below the car.
Just line the ridge on the EZ Lip to the edge of the bumper and it looks good!
But the curved sections are a bit challenging for sure!
Spend a little extra time at these curved areas.
This is looking better!
Just line up the ridge and the edge and it seems to be looking good!
We learn as we go and this is looking better than the other side for sure!
Nice!
This looks good now!
I'm still disappointed with the other side...
There is still a very slight gap, but not too bad...
I think once we put the car down it will hardly be noticeable at all.
To finish it off I'm gonna add a little heat and some pressure too...
You definitely want to make sure the ends are strongly secured so they don't peel from there.
We are basically done other than trimming the excess from the other end.
Line it up to the end and trim with scissors.
It's soft and easy to cut.... especially if you have better scissors than these! LOL
What do you think?
This was about a 10-15 minute project in total.
It looks good from here but I think we need to put the car down to really see what it looks like!
I can't wait to see it!
How does it look??
Wow!! This looks good!!
I like it a lot!!
But I can't stop looking at my mess-up!
The car looks lower now than it did before!!
And if it hits something now, it won't scrape anymore either.
The black rubber looks good against the red paint too!
But EZ Lip also comes in other colors to match your needs.
I like this product and want to recommend it to you!
It's a low cost effective way to do something cool to your car!
And its a lot fun to do stuff like this too!!
The fruits of your labor will put a smile on your face...
make you do a big thumb's up...
and make you want to Subscribe to Steve's POV too!!! LOL
I think next time I'm gonna use the thinner EZ Lip for the sides of the car too.
