- What gives me credibility in offering ideas,

workshops, strategies for strengthening resilience?

(uplifting music)

I began life as a poor farm kid

with a dad who had post-traumatic stress disorder

from the Second World War,

so I experienced some physical abuse, emotional abuse,

I believed I was stupid, I failed grade seven,

and then I dropped out of high school.

But interestingly enough, I started to discover

through a very healthy marriage the wonder of me

and had a master's degree in clinical psychology

by the time I was 40, so I'm an older woman

who has had a lot of life experience.

And now, we have a daughter we adopted

who has got disabilities,

I've lived through my daughter-in-law dying of cancer

and looking after her many days,

a son who's got divorced,

just, life, prostate cancer with my husband,

a number of issues as well as supporting clients

through their ups and downs of their life.

Often at the most painful moments, I have clients

coming to me, so when I go on the stage

I have a deep background, but I deliver my message

in a fun, light, and insightful manner.

Morgan Riddle '19 - Duration: 1:49.

so when I was looking for a college I only applied to schools in New York

New York had been a dream of mine since I was a little girl and so I knew that I

wanted to be here but at the same time I was sort of grappling with us like I

really want a college experience I want a campus I want to join a sorority I

want football games and things like that so when I found Wagner I was like wow

this is perfect when I was a freshman an older senior girl told me like get an

internship as a freshman she was like this city is all about who you know

so by the end of my junior year I had completed seven internships in a

government office of New York magazine a newspaper a coffee company startup doing

media social media and now real estate

compass is a fun company it's an

integration of technology in real estate it's super exciting there are multiple

Wagner alumni who worked here that's actually how I got the internship was an

alumni reached out to me and was like hey know you're interested in

public relations and marketing there's this internship available at compass so

back in February I started interning here and then in May got a job offer to

join as an agent luckily enough now going into my senior year I have a job

I'll be balancing classes and doing this but I've been used to it doing it the

last couple years sort of balancing internships and this is just another

step up it's really nice knowing once I graduate I'll have this opportunity

I really like working it like being in the energy of New York so it's just sort of

a continuation of that
