Hey guys! I'm Ana, food editor at goop,
and today we're headed to HGTV host Leanne Ford's house to make some holiday wreaths.
Come along!
Welcome to my cabin. You want a little tour?
Yes, I love it. It's so beautiful.
So this house is actually the first house in Echo Park, and it was built around 1906.
There's so many fun touches, we put this stone in...
I know, this is amazing.
This fireplace is not original to the house, so we've actually found all these stones out in the yard.
We ripped out all of the ceilings, and then we used all the wood we ripped out, and we put them all on our walls here.
It's a color story, right? So I kept it very neutral. It's all these warm whites and natural woods,
so I do that in my decorating. I also do it my holiday decorating.
One of my favorite things about your holiday decorating
is that wreath on the door when I first walked in—it's so beautiful.
Thank you! Wreaths are such a sign of welcoming in themselves.
I thought it'd be really fun for us to do one together.
I'm so excited—let's do it.
All right, come on.
So I brought a ton of greenery to play with: pine, eucalyptus, we have lavender, we have wax flowers.
It's gonna smell so good.
First thing we're going to need is our wreath frames, which I have one for each of us.
Usually for the base of my wreaths, I like to put a lot of pine down just because it bulks it up.
I agree. Let's give it a good little holiday base here.
What do you usually do for the holidays?
You know what, I go home to Pittsburgh where my family is from,
where there's usually snow and lots of cookies and Scrabble.
Yum.
That's the best way to spend the holidays.
You know, it's a lot easier if you stack on top and then work it around clockwise.
Also what I love to do is just stack different types of needles on top of each other and mix it.
You could probably tell personality by what kind of wreath you make, huh?
Oh my gosh.
I mean this kind of sums up my design style: When in doubt, just add more.
So how did you get into cooking and goop?
I have been into cooking pretty much my whole life.
My parents were both the worst cooks in the whole world,
so I just had to fend for myself, really, so I've always been into cooking.
I love it.
So I know you work a lot with your family. Is it difficult working with your siblings, or is it a ton of fun?
Or it's probably both.
I mean, yeah, both would be the answer, but I'm definitely the decorator, but my brother is a contractor.
We're both very creative souls, and so when I come up with some idea, my brother figures out how to do it.
All right, let's see where I'm at here.
I love that. I love how you're keeping the wire exposed.
This wire the more I put in, the more on purpose it looks and the prettier it feels.
It's like putting Spanx on your wreath.
It's exactly like that.
This is so pretty; this is kind of like an East Coast farm vibe. What are you doing here with the rope?
I am gonna make a little knot because I think it's a nice little touch.
Yeah I love it!
I'm all into the color-blocking.
I feel like mine's becoming very California.
Yeah.
I'm gonna add more California touches, I think. I'm gonna play with some of this lighter eucalyptus.
I like that idea.
I'm gonna put some of these roses in.
That's so pretty. That's actually going with your color-blocking theme.
You think I should add a few more?
Make it come up a little bit?
Yeah, I think you should have it kind of cascade over.
That's what I'm thinking.
I love that idea.
I'm actually, like, pretty into this, by the way.
Uh, me too!
They turned out so well—I'm kind of shocked.
I know.
I knew we could make them, but I didn't think they would look this good.
This one's for you.
And this one's for you!
Yay, thank you.
It's our friendship wreath.
This is so pretty. This is going to look great in my cabinet.
I'm so happy to have done this with you!
Thank you so much for having me.
This was so much fun!
Thank you for being here.
Me and my wreath are out.
It matches your look.
