Auto news on Youtube Dec 28 2018

Hi, I'm Sharnelle from Dilawri, Canada's largest Automotive Group. Today

we're here with the spectacular flagship sedan from Audi: the 2019 A8 L. This is a

long wheelbase vehicle meaning that the distance between the two wheels has been

extended for more room. This is actually 13 centimetres longer than the regular A8.

In addition to being luxurious this is one of the most technologically advanced

sedans currently available. Keep watching for an overview and don't forget to

give us a thumbs up and to subscribe to see more videos like this from Dilawri.

The technology is definitely the star of the show here but before we get to the

safety and the driver assistance technologies let's start with what's

inside the cabin. Behind the heated double-spoke leather wrapped steering

wheel is the new Audi Virtual Cockpit that has a higher resolution screen. The

Executive Package also adds a head-up display. One of the biggest changes

you'll see in this model is that there's no dial in the centre console to control

the MMI infotainment system. Instead, there are now two screens in here. The

top one is for the typical infotainment features while the bottom is more for

vehicle controls. This is where you can also enter in addresses or handwrite a

destination. The system does require you to press the screen even though it looks

like a touchscreen and you can customize your display by dragging and dropping to

the shortcut bar on the left. This does support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The A8 L has a three litre turbocharged V6 sending power to all four wheels via

an 8-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission. This car also has a 48 volt

mild hybrid system to help with fuel efficiency. This car can actually coast

above speeds of 55 kilometres per hour for up to 40 seconds and it also has a

start/stop feature. Audi will make the A8 L available with a four liter

turbocharged V8 but right now the V6 is the only option.

It makes 335 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. The A8 L is incredibly

sleek and commands attention on the road. This is in Vesuvius Gray and the Chrome

Exterior package adds chrome accents throughout. The 20 inch multi-V spoke

wheels are a really great accent as well. What's really visually appealing about

this car are the details that come with the Exterior Lighting package.

This adds OLED taillights and animated welcoming and leaving lights. The

A8 L is designed to have advanced HD Matrix LED headlights. This function is not

yet approved for the Canadian market at this time but your Audi brand specialist

will be able to provide more information on this if you're interested. This is an

incredibly advanced feature! Essentially the high-beam unit is made up of many

individual segments and can track an oncoming vehicle to create a mask around

it with appropriate lighting, so oncoming vehicles aren't blinded but you as a driver

can still see the road. This is really neat next-level technology. This A8 L

has a Valcona leather interior in Sard brown. The upgraded front sports seats

are massaging and ventilated with beautiful diamond stitching. This car

also has an Extended Leather package for added luxury. The rear is where gets

really interesting with separate power rear seats which are heated, ventilated,

and massaging with lumbar support. This is all part of the Rear Seat Comfort

package which also adds heated rear surfaces so your passengers are never

cold. The Rear Seat Connectivity package adds dual removable Audi tablets with the

MMI interface. On the road the A8 L is obviously more of a vehicle for

ultimate comfort rather than performance. This has an adaptive air suspension for

a comfortable ride but it should be noted that this car is responsive with

precise handling. The A8 L has something called dynamic all-wheel steering (or

four-wheel steering) and the wheels can be turned up to five degrees in certain

situations. This means that despite this being a very long vehicle it has a

turning radius like an A4. Drive modes include: Comfort, Auto, Dynamic and

Individual. If you thought the interior features were the highlight of this

vehicle wait until you hear about the safety and driver assistance

technologies this car has. The Driver Assistance package includes intersection

assist, Audi active cruise assist, traffic jam assist, predictive efficiency

assist, turn assist, traffic sign recognition, Audi active lane departure

warning and emergency assist. There's also an available Night

Vision Assistant that scans the area ahead of your vehicle up to 90 meters

and it alerts the driver if there are any pedestrians or large animals. The A8 L

is actually "autonomy-ready" as Audi says. It has all of the sensors and the

technology for automated driving capabilities but due to the current

autonomous driving landscape those features have yet to be approved. One

feature that is not yet available is Audi's AI Active Suspension system which

can scan the road ahead and adjust the suspension accordingly for bumps. The

A8 L has been hyped up for all the latest features but it is definitely

deserving of that attention. This is one capable vehicle that's full of modern

technology for a modern world. For more information on the 2019 A8 L be sure to

New Skoda Scala Is Your Affordable Audi A3 Sportback - Duration: 5:24.

The teasing days are over as Skoda has finally lifted the veils of its all-new Scala, a vehicle that embodies the Czech brand's ambitions

The Scala is not just an indirect replacement for the Rapid Spaceback, it's also Skoda's first real shot at the highly-competitive C-segment

We're talking about a car that's almost as big the VW Golf. It's 4,362 mm (171.7in) long and 1,793 mm wide (70.6in), making it a little shorter and narrower than the German compact segment benchmark

However, it rides on a longer wheelbase of 2,649 mm (104.3in) and is a little taller at 1,471 mm (56 in)

That results in similar interior dimensions to the larger Skoda Octavia, including one of the biggest luggage compartments in the segment

The Scala's cargo capacity is 467 liters (16.5cu ft) with all seats in place and 1,410 liters (50 cu ft) with the rear seats folded down

As the first Skoda model based on VW Group's MQB A0 platform, the Scala completely repositions the brand in the compact segment

It's also the first model to showcase the next development stage of the brand's design language

The new styling direction will be rolled out on future models as well.Previewed by the Vision RS study earlier this year, the Skoda Scala visually bridges the gap between a traditional five-door hatchback and a wagon — much like the Audi A3 Sportback

Highlights include the triangular partial LED headlights (standard), sizable third lateral windows, and the extended rear screen that blends with the wraparound LED taillights with dynamic turn indicators (optional)

The interior adopts a fresh approach as well thanks to a sleek dashboard dominated by a freestanding touchscreen display available in sizes ranging from 6.5 inches to 9.2 inches.

There's also a 10.25-inch Virtual Cockpit available which works with the third generation of the MIB modular infotainment matrix

Interestingly, the infotainment system software or maps can be updated over the air via Skoda Connect mobile online services, since the SCALA is always online thanks to a built-in eSIM with an LTE connection

Skoda Connect also allows users to lock and unlock the car via a mobile phone. The cabin brings a new concept with soft materials, including a soft-foam surface with a texture resembling crystalline structures that covers the dashboard and optional microfiber Suedia upholstery

It also offers LED ambient lighting — albeit with only two available colors. At launch, the Scala will offer five turbocharged engine variants, ranging from 90 PS (89 hp) to 150 PS (148 hp)

There are three gasoline units: an entry-level 1.0-liter TSI three-cylinder producing 95 PS (94 hp), a mid-range 1.0-liter TSI with 115 PS (113 hp) and a top-of-the-line 1.5-liter TSI four-cylinder that makes 150 PS (148 hp)

The lineup also includes a 1.6-liter TDI four-cylinder turbodiesel rated at 115 PS (113 hp) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque

Finally, customers can choose a 90PS (89hp) 1.0-liter G-Tec unit that runs on natural gas (CNG)

Transmission options include five- and six-speed manual and seven-speed dual-clutch units

The Sport Chassis Control with Normal or Sport driving modes is optional.Safety-wise, the Scala offers standard Lane Assist and Front Assist with City Emergency Brake systems

Available driving assistance tech includes the Side Assist function, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Park Assist

As for the proverbial "Simply Clever" features, the new compact hatchback brings an electric tailgate with "Tip-To-Close" function and a retractable tow bar

The all-new Skoda Scala will arrive in European dealerships in the first half of 2019
